Growing up in El Cajon, he attended Christian High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Annalisa. He then went on to earn his undergraduate degree from UC Irvine, after which he worked at UCSD hospital as a lab technician on the organ procurement team.
Dr. Brookshier went to Western U in LA for medical school and completed his 3-year surgical residency at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego. During his residency, he completed over 1,500 surgical procedures. He then went to Kaiser Fontana for further trauma and reconstructive training.
Prior to arriving at Scripps, Dr. Brookshier completed externships throughout the country at hospitals such as Harvard teaching facility, Swedish Seattle, and Cedars-Sinai LA.
Podiatry is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis, and medical and surgical treatment of a variety of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremities. A podiatrist, also known as a podiatric physician or a foot and ankle surgeon, is a medical professional devoted to the treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremities. They can treat injuries and complications from ongoing health issues like diabetes.
Passionate about progressing the field of podiatric medicine and helping to improve diabetic care, Dr. Brookshier has presented novel studies around the country. He has also spoken in Hong Kong and South Korea, sharing his results at the International Diabetes Federation.
Happily married, Dr. Brookshier and his wife, Annalisa, have three sons: Bryer, Desmond, and Calvin. His hobbies outside of medicine include sports of all kinds, hiking, dancing, running, going to the beach, and watching Survivor.
