The Dance DJ Launches Performance Dance Sets in Bridport

Sep 24, 2026

Club Electric opens with a live set by DJ Mark-e-ting on 2 October 2026 at 10pm.

Bridport, United Kingdom, September 24, 2026 -- The Dance DJ is launching Club Electric, a monthly underground music night at the Electric Palace, 35 South Street, Bridport, DT6 3NY, opening with a performance dance set on 2 October 2026 at 10:00pm. Mark Oborn, who performs as DJ Mark-e-ting, specialises in performance sets rather than background music. His approach draws on experience as a dancer, including competitive West Coast Swing and Modern Jive demonstration and coaching.

Performance sets move between house, EDM, club anthems and music from the 1980s onward, remixed for dancing, and are built around phrasing, transitions, tension and timing rather than a fixed playlist. Each set is mixed live and adapts to the response of the dancefloor. For private and venue DJ hire, Oborn discusses musical preferences, must-play tracks and tracks to avoid ahead of each booking.

The initiative is intended to support the regional hospitality evening trade by offering venues a club-focused evening format aimed at encouraging additional evening footfall. The format draws on performance work across Dorset, Devon and the wider West Country, where Oborn provides live-mixed sets for venues, weddings and private events. Further detail on the approach behind these performance sets is available through The Dance DJ. The reasoning behind building a night around a live, responsive set is explored in "Will a DJ play music you like?", published ahead of the Bridport launch.

"The aim with Club Electric is to create a performance set that responds to the room, not a pre-set playlist," said Mark Oborn, DJ. "Every transition is built around the mood on the dancefloor, from phrasing to timing."

Singapore’s major financial institutions have pledged to train more than 80,000 local employees in AI skills as the country moves to cushion white-collar workers from potential job disruption. A pioneer batch of 23 banks, insurers and asset managers has committed to train all their Singapore staff by 2028, and more than half of them have already gone through programmes recognised by an industry association, according to Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong. Sri Lanka’s opposition protests against contentious judicial reforms

Sri Lanka’s main opposition took to the streets on Thursday to protest against judicial reforms, including raising the retirement age for judges, that the government says are needed to reduce legal delays. Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa told thousands of supporters outside parliament that the legislation proposed by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s left-wing administration would “annihilate” judicial independence. The government unveiled two bills last month to increase the number of...

US regulators back multi-cancer blood test – but Hong Kong doctors remain cautious

Efforts to detect multiple cancers through a single blood draw are gathering momentum after US regulators endorsed the technology for the first time, although experts say wider adoption in Hong Kong still faces challenges as doctors remain cautious about its clinical value. In a landmark decision for the emerging field of multi-cancer early detection (MCED) blood tests, a US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) panel on Thursday voted in favour of US company Grail’s “Galleri test”, recommending it...

What can Asia, Global South learn from India’s new digital payment fee?

For millions of Indians, buying a cup of chai or groceries from roadside vendors has come to mean reaching for their phones rather than wallets – a habit made possible by a system that has so far charged consumers nothing for such everyday transactions. Now, a decade after the government launched the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), India is asking some merchants to pay for the hugely popular system – raising questions over whether it can preserve the low-cost model that drove its mass adoption...
