Supply Chain Trends Reshaping Small Business Operations

Aug 11, 2022

New trends in supply chain operations and goals are impacting costs, yet also giving savvy entrepreneurs an opportunity to shine.

EL PASO, Texas - August 11, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Leading invoice factoring company Viva Capital says supply chain trends that began gaining a foothold before COVID emerged are now in full force, dramatically impacting the way small businesses operate and their profitability. Full coverage of the topic can be found in "11 Supply Chain Trends Affecting Businesses Today," which is now live on VivaCF.net.

The report goes beyond commonly cited woes, such as increased supply chain costs, to reveal issues that directly impact expenses and operations. Shorter product lifespans, for example, necessitate more efficient supply chain management. Around 50 percent of business revenue presently comes from products launched within the past three years, the piece notes. The ability to scale with customer demand adds another layer of complexity. Even still, Greg DiDonna, President and Partner of Viva Capital, says many of the latest supply chain trends directly benefit businesses.

"There's been a greater movement toward AI, automation, and globalization," DiDonna explains. "These things naturally minimize costs and will reduce them further as the technology becomes commonplace."

He says that these are things even small businesses can tap into, particularly as supply chain as a service, or SCaaS, and on-demand supply chain management (SCM) support services continue to develop. While this won't prevent rising costs, they help reduce their impact. Businesses that focus on mindful supply chain management can close the gap even more.

"We're seeing businesses rise to meet consumer demand," DiDonna continues. "Around two-thirds of consumers want to work with sustainable brands and seven in ten show a preference for brands that share their values. Many are seizing the opportunity to share their supply chain story as part of their brand story."

DiDonna notes that these things increase perceived value to consumers, which often allows brands to increase rates. Yet, he acknowledges that businesses sometimes have difficulty making ends meet as they adopt new technology and adjust marketing strategies. Viva is seeing an uptick in invoice factoring from business owners who want to enhance supply chain management or reach new markets as a result. The company provides immediate payment on B2B invoices, which allows businesses to invest in growth or purchase supplies without amassing debt, as is common with most funding solutions.

President Lee Jae Myung’s overseas trips have again drawn attention to South Korea’s shifting political standards, adding to a familiar cycle of disputes over presidential golf and the presidential plane whenever power passes between conservative and liberal administrations. The controversies centre on taxpayer money and the public’s attitudes towards presidential privilege, with governing parties defending certain activities as necessary for diplomacy or official duties and the opposition...

The company appears to have already reported the matter to the government and will now focus on determining the full circumstances. Kyodo News, working with security experts, also found that five IP addresses used to access a...

Humans vs AI art: why game studios hire Southeast Asian talent

Video game companies have long been at the vanguard of artificial intelligence, using it in its more nascent form to dictate non-player character behaviour, simulate crowds and adjust game difficulty on the fly years before the advent of chatbots like ChatGPT. Today, the technology is increasingly being deployed to write code, create visual assets and even synthesise real-time voice-overs, supplanting humans who would have otherwise done the work. Yet studios do still pay people to animate their...

China and US need to join hands against another powerful adversary: AI

When Chinese leader Mao Zedong and then US president Richard Nixon ended more than two decades of hostility in the early 1970s and began restoring ties, one powerful force pulling them together was a shared adversary in the form of the Soviet Union. Fast forward to today. The United States and China, the world’s two largest economies, have spent eight years locked in competition and confrontation, from trade and investment to technology, amid mounting fears that they are on a path to inevitable...

Self-improving AI the key step towards AGI but safety is key: Z.ai founder

Using artificial intelligence to build even smarter systems will make artificial general intelligence (AGI) more achievable, though it would need to be done safely, leading Chinese computer scientist Tang Jie said at an event in Shanghai on Saturday. The remarks underscore how AI companies in the US and China are both chasing the holy grail of recursive self-improvement (RSI), where increasingly powerful AI systems also become better at improving themselves in an ever-accelerating...
