SailPoint IdentityIQ Migration From MIM For Federal Agencies Announced

Nov 6, 2026

Azure IAM has announced a fixed-fee migration service to move federal and defense agencies from Microsoft Identity Manager to SailPoint IdentityIQ, with parallel testing to verify that the new environment matches the existing one before any cutover takes place.

Las Cruces, United States, November 6, 2026 /NewsNetwork/ -- Azure IAM has announced a fixed-fee migration service for federal and defense agencies moving from Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) to SailPoint IdentityIQ. The service transfers existing MIM functionality into a working IdentityIQ environment, giving organizations a clear path to retire the legacy platform.

More details can be found at https://azureiam.com/

MIM 2016 will reach end of support on January 9, 2029, while Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager 2010 R2 has been out of support since October 11, 2022. The platform has seen a series of service disruptions ahead of that deadline: MIM hybrid reporting cloud endpoints went offline in November 2025, and Entra MFA Server stopped handling requests in September 2024, affecting MIM self-service password reset and privileged access management approvals. With the cutoff date under three years away, organizations have a narrowing window to plan and execute a migration.

Azure IAM’s process begins with a review of the existing MIM environment, covering groups, rules, workflows, and connected systems. The company then translates those elements for use in IdentityIQ, carrying over existing functionality to the new platform. Azure IAM notes that MIM and IdentityIQ differ in how some features are implemented, so any element that cannot be translated directly is documented rather than approximated.

Before cutover, Azure IAM runs MIM and IdentityIQ in parallel. During this period, MIM continues provisioning connected systems while IdentityIQ outputs are compared against it, giving agencies a direct view of any discrepancies. The comparison covers Active Directory group membership and provisioning data for connected systems. This approach allows organizations to assess migration results while the original system remains fully operational.

The service uses a fixed-fee pricing model, with Azure IAM defining scope and providing a quote before work begins. The fee covers transferring existing MIM functionality to IdentityIQ; redesigns, new features, or custom integrations that go beyond the current system are available as separate hourly engagements. Azure IAM recommends completing the migration before undertaking further changes.

Azure IAM is an independent identity consulting firm serving corporate, defense, intelligence, government, and education clients. Its principals are former Microsoft consultants holding Top Secret clearances with SCI Poly access. Services span identity architecture, design, and implementation across on-premises and cloud environments.

Federal and defense agencies considering a MIM transition can review Azure IAM’s migration service and schedule a scoping call at https://azureiam.com/
