New York City, New York Jan 8, 2024 (Issuewire.com) - A caring and dedicated pediatrician, Dr. Douglas is in practice with Wee Kare Pediatrics, operating out of the office in Houston, Texas. She loves working with children in the primary healthcare setting and is passionate about providing holistic care for families.

Back in the early days of her academic career, Dr. Douglas graduated with her Medical Degree from the University of Cape Town Medical School in South Africa in 1999. After working in the field of pediatrics in both South Africa and the United Kingdom, she completed her residency in pediatrics at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington D.C. where she also served as chief resident.

Her interest in helping children with infectious diseases took her back to South Africa, where she completed a Master's Degree in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and also worked for a USAID-funded NGO to improve healthcare provision for underprivileged children. Dr. Douglas moved to Houston, Texas in 2014 and joined WeeKare Pediatrics in August 2016.

Board-certified in pediatrics, she is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Among her professional affiliations, Dr. Douglas is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Texas Medical Association.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends people be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

Dr. Douglas attributes her success to her family who have supported her throughout all her endeavors. The opportunities that she has had to travel around the world and work in the field of pediatrics in different countries have shaped her outlook on providing the best possible healthcare for children.

Beyond her medical practice, Dr. Douglas finds joy in gardening. South Africa holds a special place in her heart, serving as her preferred vacation destination.
