December 13, 2022 - /PressAdvantage/ - Mid-Ohio Foot and Ankle Specialists, a podiatry practice in Lewis Center, Ohio, is pleased to announce that they have recently acquired a Saorsa Swift microwave therapy machine for plantar warts treatment. This compact microwave machine delivers low dose microwaves to the affected tissue, and this rapidly increases its temperature, which then causes the body’s immune system to respond. Patients find the treatment to be convenient with minimal discomfort. In addition, the treatment is fast and doesn’t cause any break on the surface of the skin nor does it damage tissue from the point of application. More about the podiatry practice can be gleaned from their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/people/Mid-Ohio-Foot-and-Ankle-Specialists/100086994819764/.
Plantar warts are inconveniently located on the soles of the feet, which means that the patient suffers from pain while walking, running, or doing activities that happen to cause pressure to be exerted on the warts. The Swift machine sends an accurate and highly controlled microwave energy dose to a specific depth into the skin. This doesn’t cause a break on the skin surface, unlike salicylic acid, cryotherapy or laser ablation. The microwaves increase the energy of the water molecules in the affected tissue and this results into a rapid rise in temperature, which activates the body’s immune response. Furthermore, no bandages or dressings are needed, and the treatment session will only last for five to 10 minutes.
The Swift machine also provides cleaner and simpler treatments. There is no smoke or plume unlike with laser and electrocautery devices that can be dangerous to both the clinician and the patient. The machine has also been designed to ensure that the microwaves only travel in straight lines and have no lateral spread as can be observed in cryotherapy. And studies have shown that there is no scarring and patients have only experienced minimal post-procedural pain.
This compact microwave therapy machine is also provided with a safety feature as it has a disposable tip that prevents cross-contamination. It has a sensor that detects if the tip has not been changed. It will only allow the machine to be turned on after the tip has been replaced with a new one. In addition, the depth that is reached by the microwaves can be accurately set, such as between 3.5 to 4 mm in the skin, ensuring minimal effect on healthy tissue.
It is also important to note that microwaves offer a safe method of treatment for plantar warts because they have been in clinical use for more than 30 years. And microwaves are a type of non-ionizing radiation, which means they can’t cause damage to the DNA of living things. Furthermore, the microwave energy produced is at very low levels. Nevertheless, some caution must be exercised for some patients such as: patients suffering from poor circulation; patients suffering from conditions that affect the capability of the body to heal; those who have metal plates or pins in their feet; women who are pregnant or breastfeeding; those who are wearing a pacemaker; and those who are immune-suppressed.

One victim was in life-threatening condition and received surgery at a nearby hospital. The suspect attacked shoppers as he moved through the shopping centre before business owners and bystanders subdued him, according to local police and witnesses. US President Donald Trump’s decision to ease sanctions on Russian diesel exports and allow fresh supplies to reach global markets could give India greater leverage in its own dispute with Washington over discounted crude purchases, analysts said. Beyond the energy dispute, they said the move could also open up diplomatic opportunities for New Delhi, from pressing for more consistent treatment by Washington to building on its efforts to help negotiate an end to the Russia-Ukraine war. Under the...
Leaders of India’s “cockroach” protest movement were detained again on Tuesday, their second detention in days, as a stand-off with authorities deepened over a contentious overhaul of voter rolls. Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, two prominent faces of the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party, were taken into custody with other members after jumping barricades to enter Jantar Mantar, historically one of New Delhi’s main protest venues. Delhi police on Monday removed Jantar Mantar’s designation as a...
A sharp sell-off in Asian memory chip stocks this week signals growing investor doubts over whether the sector’s AI-driven profit boom can last, even as soaring prices drive strong quarterly earnings across the sector. Shares in market leaders Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix plunged in Seoul on Tuesday, extending a days-long slide that has also swept up Chinese rival ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT). Samsung and SK Hynix closed down 7.4 per cent and 10.1 per cent, respectively. The companies...
An Indonesian official’s claim that the country exports “oxygen” and not just smoke to its neighbours has renewed criticism of Jakarta’s handling of its annual forest fires, with analysts warning that defensive nationalism risks undermining regional cooperation to tackle the recurring haze crisis. The remarks by Syahganda Nainggolan, the newly appointed head of the Government Communication Agency, reignited criticism over Indonesia’s handling of its ongoing forest and peatland fires, which have...

Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said on Tuesday that officials were reviewing the off-base code of conduct for US troops in Japan following the alleged killing of an Okinawan woman by a US marine. Crimes including rapes, assaults, hit-and-runs and drunk driving by US military personnel have long triggered protests on the southern Japanese island, which has for years urged other regions in the country to share the burden of hosting US troops. “We plan to hold discussions including...
North Korea now has a museum for its bombs. The National Defence Revolution Museum, which opened on Sunday, is the country’s first dedicated exclusively to military hardware, from rifles to intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). Observers say it is also intended to send a message to Washington and Seoul, serve as a permanent showroom for the North’s arms exports and visibly enshrine its nuclear programme as an irreversible part of state policy. Third-generation ruler Kim Jong-un cut the...
The Philippine Senate, sitting as an impeachment court, approved the prosecution’s withdrawal of most of the charges against Vice-President Sara Duterte on Tuesday, in a trial that could kill her hopes to run for president in 2028. Prosecutors have been presenting evidence against Duterte since July on charges that she betrayed public trust, amassed unexplained wealth, violated the constitution and committed corruption, bribery and other high crimes. Lead prosecutor Gerville Luistro told the...
Fiji’s Justice Minister Siromi Turaga stepped down from cabinet on Tuesday after an intimate video of him went viral online – the second such scandal to rock the Pacific island nation’s government. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, who previously sought credible “proof” before taking action against Turaga, said he accepted his colleague’s resignation. “You mentioned him? Go ahead and report him to me and the Online Safety Commissioner, and I will get proof from that authority with you making the...
