Norman OK – Leading Oklahoma water damage restoration company recently came to the rescue of a Norman based dentist when their dentistry office roof was severely compromised by a heavy storm. This caused the top surface of the roof to lift up and allow significant volumes of water to seep into the building.
Upon discovery of the leak the staff at the dentist office contacted RGP Restoration, Construction & Roofing Group, who immediately responded by sending a crew out to the location. To prevent any damage to the expensive office equipment RGP staff covered the computers, electronic and dentistry equipment with waterproof plastic, before extracting the excess water which had seeped under the skin of the Duro-Last roof.
Once the water was removed, the next stage in the process was to temporarily seal the roof, preventing further damage being caused, before replacing the roof once weather conditions had suitably improved. Thanks to their quick response, there was minimal damage caused to the interior of the building, fixtures and fittings, and all dentistry work was able to be completed without inconveniencing any patients.
After taking initial precautions to secure the roofing area by removing water from beneath the roofing liner and temporarily patching the roofing surface to ensure no more moisture could enter the building, RGP Restoration did an extensive assessment of the interior roofing tiles and wall structure to make sure they located all damaged areas. RGP thoroughly scanned the walls and ceiling with an advanced infrared camera that can detect water damage that is not visible to the naked eye. This analysis shows any areas of the ceiling tiles or interior walls that may have had water damage and could be susceptible to mold. There were many areas that had been compromised which required action from RGP to replace and restore the damaged materials.
“Our company operates a 24/7 emergency service for instances exactly like these, and in this instance we are delighted that we could respond and resolve the problem so quickly,” said Scott Patterson of RGP Restoration. “In our opinion if we hadn’t responded quicker the damage caused by the leaking roof could easily have amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars, and it is quite possible that the dentist business would have been closed for a significant period of time, while the restoration work was completed. Although in this instance our team of staff were able to deal with the emergency, our recommendation would be to take preemptive action and have your roof inspected on an annual basis, to identify any issues before they develop into more significant problems.”
