Dec 10, 2019
December 10, 2019 - /PressAdvantage/ - GARDEN GROVE, Calif.: In partnership with the City of Garden Grove, charitable non-profit organization OC Drive will host their annual Winter Toy Drive on Dec. 12, 2019 at Village Green Park from 5 to 8 p.m.
Families and friends of Orange County will come together to celebrate the joy of generosity by raising toys and gifts for children and teens in need this holiday season. In 2018, OC Drive was able to collect and distribute over 3,000 items and aims to surpass that number this year.
The Winter Toy Drive, also known as Winter Drive, will showcase its signature exotic car show that brings together both car enthusiasts and community members looking for ways to contribute to their neighborhood.
OC Drive’s values include making the act of giving a family activity, with their Winter Drive emphasizing this with a day for the whole family to enjoy. In addition to their signature car show, there will be fun activities and entertainment including performances by local Orange County schools and artists.
Younger children will also be able to enjoy the festivities, thanks to the exciting Children’s Corner featuring unlimited snow slides and crafts such as ornament decorating, writing letters to Santa and making gingerbread houses. Mr. and Mrs. Clause will be making a special visit, arriving in a convertible luxury vehicle for photo opportunities with the entire family.
The story of Winter Drive began with the organization’s founders –Jayce Yenson of Saigon City Marketplace, Gary Nguyen of 24/7 Care at Home, Sonny Nguyen of 7 Leaves Café, and Tam Nguyen of Advance Beauty College– who continue to feel strongly about giving back to the community. “We have been blessed much, while there are others, especially children, who aren’t as fortunate,” shares Jayce Yenson.
The founders were inspired by their own experiences as parents and saw that teaching their own children compassion and responsibility was important. They hope that through events such as Winter Drive, it will make the act of volunteering a family activity and is a great way to reinforce charitable values. After the 2016 Winter Drive became a huge success it was decided that every year the organization will hold an event to provide gifts and to those in need during the holiday season.
“The event was fantastic, and it was all centered on giving. No politics, no agendas. It was all about how we can make this a success so that we can put a smile on a child’s face,” says Sonny Nguyen.
It is also the first year where OC Drive’s Winter Drive will be held in conjunction with the City of Garden Grove’s annual holiday fest, “Winter in the Grove” for an even bigger celebration.
OC Drives welcomes all families and friends to join them during this season of giving to their 4th Annual Winter Drive on Thursday, December 12 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Village Green Park in Garden Grove.
