Low Compression Rating Golf Balls For Mid-Handicappers: Buyer's Guide Launched

Golf Online Today, a website providing reviews of the latest golf equipment and apparel, released a guide highlighting the best golf balls for mid-handicappers.

In its new guide, Golf Online Today reviews eight golf balls from popular brands designed to help mid-handicappers improve their game. The guide also points out some of the factors mid-handicappers should consider when selecting a golf ball to play with.

Golf Online Today defines a mid-handicapper as “any golfer with an average score of between 10 and 20 strokes over par.” The new guide goes on to note that golfers who fall into this category typically have a strong knowledge and passion for the game but will often struggle with power, accuracy, or consistency. By finding the right ball, they argue that mid-handicappers can improve in these areas.

The first ball that the guide recommends mid-handicappers try is the Bridgestone e6. On the market for 14 years, this ball features a gradational compression core and a reformulated Surlyn cover for a softer feel. With a low compression rating of only 45, golfers can hit the Bridgestone e6 much further than other balls with far less effort.

Another ball that Golf Online Today suggests mid-handicappers test out is the Callaway Chrome Soft, which has a higher compression rating than the Bridgestone e6 but offers more in terms of launch and spin control. This is due to its Tour Aero design and Chrome Soft technology, which allow golfers to get a more consistent ball flight.

Ultimately, when choosing a ball, Golf Online Today encourages mid-handicappers to look for one with a reasonable compression rating, a softer core construction, and a dimple pattern that reduces drag and promotes higher ball flight. It should also have a higher ball speed, so mid-handicappers can continue to hit the ball far even when working on accuracy and spin.

“Finding the best golf ball for a mid-handicapper is no easy feat, but it's achievable with the right information and some trial and error,” said a spokesperson for the website. “From softer balls for more control to harder balls for more distance, you have to experiment to find the one that is right for you.”

The flaw in Australia’s ‘China threat’ thesis

Australia’s preparations for a possible conflict with China reflect “a relatively superficial understanding”, argues prominent economist John Edwards. Europe, Canada, Indonesia, Malaysia and India, he notes, are not preparing for such a conflict. Why should Australia? Edwards, a former senior economic adviser to former Labor prime minister Paul Keating, makes the observation in a Lowy Institute paper released in October and in a newspaper interview. Instead, he sees US-China rivalry as a...

Why the Philippines remains a hotspot for transnational drug syndicates

Transnational drug syndicates in the Philippines continue to thrive despite decades of crackdowns targeting street-level dealers, with analysts warning that regional suppliers, financiers and trafficking networks have largely eluded enforcement efforts. Former drug officials and security analysts say the country’s drug trade remains closely connected to a wider regional supply chain, with criminal groups relying on local partners, maritime routes and established distribution networks to move...

AI, fuelled by advanced chips, set to power semiconductor manufacturing: industry veteran
