Pune, Maharashtra Oct 28, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Indian feature film based on Migrants labourers during covid-19
Swatantra Theatre and Films Pune, Maharashtra India have made an independent Hindi feature film - LABOUR PAIN-an unending saga.
The film is based on events and hardships faced by daily wages migrants workers (mazdoors) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mazdoors lay the groundwork of our societies, they are the pillars on which our skyscrapers stand. Their blood, sweat & tears shape our homes, malls & subways. But which strata of our social fabric do these labourers dwell in? What about their individual identities? We follow the story of Shankar and Manju, daily wage migrant workers, living miles away from home for work that to them is worship. Our journey with them brings us to the apocalyptic days of an unforeseen pandemic that upends the lives of millions like them. Without social security, net to catch their fall and abandoned by the city they built, left to their own devices, they begin a long, long walk back home.
Will they ever get there? Will they find the families that a home is made of? Will they ever dare to dream or hope again for a better future? Or are they on roads that lead nowhere?

But the figure I keep coming back to was this: 9.43 million Japanese workers were 65 or older last year, about 13.8 per cent of everyone with a job. Members of Japan’s older population are not simply retired. A large part are still at work and some of those people are the ones businesses depend on. The Asia-Pacific...
