In recent news, Instagram cracked down on botting, fake followers, and black-hat methods used to aid in growth hacking. Yet, some influencers are still managing to grow their accounts seemingly overnight. Is this because they a masters of the algorithm? That's not likely. There's a much bigger "under-cover" player in the game. In fact, the entire industry is almost top-secret. The only way to find out is through knowing someone or being a part of an influencer networking platform of some kind. Let's look into this hush hush industry.

Enter stage left, loop giveaways. That's right; influencers have now turned to this totally white-hat method to grow their audience with actual real people.

"Instead of the $100's people were spending on bots and fake followers, now influencers are joining giveaways awarding cash, electronics and vacations to their loyal followers. This is not a terrible turn of events if you ask me," says Smith, a travel influencer.

These giveaways typically yield anywhere from 5-20,000 REAL PEOPLE visiting their page and clicking that follow button. The problem is, the giveaways are very hard to find unless someone is already part of the community. Loop giveaways have become many influencers best kept secret. Some influencers that participate buy what's called a "ghost host" position, so the top-secret method used for growing their account remains just that, a secret.

"The industry has operated in the shadows for a long time and because of that stigma, most giveaway providers have "back-room" transactions and no websites," says Smith.

The entire process happens via Instagram DM and it ends with the influencer being asked to send cash to a random PayPal address via "family and friends" to avoid transaction fees and the possibility of seeking a refund at a later date. Most people are immediately turned off by this whole process, which is how this huge industry has operated under the radar for so long.

About Great Escape Giveaways

Smith decided to organize Great Escape Giveaways after participating in few loop giveaways and being very concerned with the nature of the transactions. Great Escape aims to provide monthly giveaways and a long-term growth strategy to influencers and brands looking to grow a real audience.
