UPC-F12M1-RPLP Combines IP66 Sealing, M12 Connectors, and Wi-Fi 6 for Harsh Drilling Environments

POMONA, Calif. - Nov. 3, 2026 - PRLog -- IEI Technology USA Corp. today announced that a European mining operator has deployed its UPC-F12M1-RPLP panel PC across a drilling fleet. The in-vehicle unit gives operators live visibility into vehicle diagnostics and machine status during active drilling cycles.

The Challenge

Legacy in-cab displays could not meet IP66 sealing, M12 connector, or wide-temperature requirements, and supervisors needed one platform for task progress, equipment health, vehicle location, data logging, and fleet connectivity. Hardware required CE, FCC, and UKCA certification and fanless 24/7 operation in remote underground and open-pit sites exposed to extreme vibration, dust, moisture, and wide temperature swings.

The Solution

IEI deployed the UPC-F12M1-RPLP as the in-vehicle computing and display unit. Mounted in operator cabins, each unit connects to onboard sensors, drilling control systems, and vehicle CAN networks, and runs custom HMI software for real-time drilling dashboards, task status visualization, and alerts. The operator chose the platform for its IP66-sealed fanless die-cast chassis; M12 locking connectors, CAN bus, and RS-232/422/485 for integration with drilling controls and PLCs; and Wi-Fi 6, ACC ignition mode, and 9–36V DC input for fleet sync across 12V and 24V vehicles.

The UPC-F12M1-RPLP features a 12.1-inch projected capacitive touchscreen that works with gloves and a 13th Gen Intel Core i3-1315URE processor with six cores running up to 4.5 GHz. It operates from -20°C to 60°C.

Results

One panel PC now serves as the monitoring, control, visualization, and communications hub for each drilling rig. The sealed, fanless design sustained reliable performance in dust-laden, high-vibration environments, and Wi-Fi 6 kept consistent uplinks to fleet management for proactive maintenance and remote diagnostics. M12 locking connectors reduced wiring failures and field maintenance, supporting higher fleet uptime.

"Mining environments test hardware at its limits, with extreme vibration, dust, and continuous operation," said Eric Hsieh, General Manager of IEI Technology USA Corp. "The UPC-F12M1-RPLP was built for these conditions, giving operators the real-time visibility and connected control they need to run more efficient fleets."

Availability

The UPC-F12M1-RPLP is available now through IEI Technology USA Corp. and its authorized distribution partners. For specifications or sales inquiries, visit www.ieiworld.com or contact [email protected].

German tourist missing in Indonesia’s Bali after landslide amid rainy season

A German tourist was among two men still missing on Tuesday after a landslide struck a glamping resort on the island of Bali in Indonesia. Why Chinese AI stars like Z.ai, MiniMax struggle to match Anthropic’s profit margin

US artificial intelligence giant Anthropic’s initial public offering prospectus has exposed a vast profitability gap between it and rivals Z.ai and MiniMax, highlighting the challenges facing China’s AI model developers in turning technological advances into sustainable businesses. The Claude developer’s filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) last week revealed a significant financial advantage over its most direct Chinese counterparts, despite the latter’s continued...

South Korea revokes Unification Church leader’s bail after secret visits exposed

A South Korean court revoked the Unification Church leader’s bail in a bribery case on Tuesday after footage emerged of her visiting the secretive movement’s headquarters in breach of release conditions. Han Hak-ja, 83, was sentenced to two years in prison in August for providing luxury items, including a designer handbag, to former first lady Kim Keon-hee while her husband Yoon Suk-yeol was president, in an attempt to secure policy favours. Alibaba’s Joe Tsai champions open-source AI at Wuzhen Summit amid US pushback

Open source is the only viable path to creating a sustainable artificial intelligence industry, Alibaba Group Holding chairman Joe Tsai said on Tuesday, as the Chinese technology giant doubles down on its open-source AI strategy. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the annual World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit in eastern China’s Zhejiang province, Tsai pointed to a growing convergence around open ecosystems among domestic tech companies, as surging AI demand rubs up against persistent...

Indonesia under mounting pressure to scrap VAT on sanitary pads amid rising living costs

The Indonesian government is facing mounting pressure to scrap the value-added tax (VAT) on sanitary pads and other menstrual hygiene products, with critics arguing it adds to the financial burden for women from low-income families already struggling to buy basic necessities. While the 11 per cent tax on such products is not new, the issue has gained traction amid public anger over rising living costs. Students took to the streets of Jakarta last week to protest against the government’s handling...

Why a midterm mauling for Trump will not bring Asia trade relief

Since returning to the White House in January last year, US President Donald Trump has upended the global trading order with his scattergun approach to tariffs and launched a war on Iran that sent oil prices soaring. On Tuesday, American voters hurting from nagging inflation and the high cost of living that have defined Trump’s second term have the opportunity to deliver their verdict on his Republican Party in the midterm elections. Polls suggest that the Republicans, who currently control both...

Mid-air helicopter collision on Nepal’s Everest kills Indian tourist

An Indian tourist was killed and a New Zealand national injured when two helicopters collided and crashed while attempting to land in Nepal’s Everest region on Tuesday, police said. There are few roads in the Himalayas, and helicopters are widely used to transport tourists, climbers and supplies, as well as carry out emergency evacuations. Nepal’s challenging terrain and rapidly changing weather make aviation operations particularly hazardous. The small helicopters operated by Fishtail Air and...

The controversy has fuelled criticism of what analysts describe as an intensifying effort to drown out opposing voices, while drawing attention to the...
