President and Founder of AeroVenture spearheads efforts to expand and champion aviation for next generation of pilots and enthusiasts
Attleboro, Massachusetts Mar 29, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - The Royal Aeronautical Society, a London, UK-based institution dedicated to advancing the aviation, aerospace, and space sectors, has recently announced the election of George Charles Allen as a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (FRAeS).
Election to Fellow is the highest grade attainable and is awarded only to those who have made outstanding contributions, attained a position of high responsibility, and have demonstrated long experience of high quality in the profession of aeronautics.
The society recognizes Allen's exceptional achievements, leadership, and commitment to advancing the art and science of aeronautics and space worldwide. With this distinction, he joins a prestigious group of individuals who have significantly contributed to the field.
"I am deeply honored to be elected as a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society," Allen said. "The Society has been instrumental in promoting excellence in aerospace since its inception. I am proud to be recognized by such a venerable institution. I look forward to continuing to inform, educate, and inspire the next generation of aviation and space enthusiasts and professionals while striving to discover novel and effective ways to make significant advancements for the future of humanity in these creative, scientific, and professional endeavors."
Established in 1866, the Royal Aeronautical Society is the world's oldest institution leading developments in aeronautics and space by providing a central forum to share knowledge for the international advancement of the aeronautical arts, sciences, and engineering while promoting the highest professional standards.
The Society congratulates Allen on this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to his continued contributions to the advancement of aeronautics.
Allen is an experienced aviator, award-winning aerospace educator, and second-generation professional flight instructor in the greater Boston area. Through his commitment to excellence and innovation, he has led family-owned AeroVenture to become the only flight school twice awarded the distinction as National Best Flight School of 1,447 by The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) -- the world's largest aviation association.
As a result of AeroVenture's aviation and aerospace education programs, some of their most notable alumni have attended leading higher education institutions and landed positions with major airlines, corporate flight departments, and the military. One prodigious graduate serves NASA's Mission Control at Houston as a Pilot (GN&C Engineer) of the International Space Station.
Allen's passion for aviation education extends beyond AeroVenture.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI), the largest and oldest association representing flight instruction and serving members in the US and 35 countries.
He previously served on the AOPA Flight Training Advisory Board, where he played an essential role in shaping the future of flight training for the entire industry by providing insight and perspectives concerning training, hiring, marketing, management, strategy, and logistics of flight training and education.
In recognition of his leadership and excellence in aerospace education, George was awarded the Dr. Wendell G. Mohling Outstanding Aerospace Educator Award in 2018, presented by the National Science Teaching Association -- the world's most extensive professional science organization.
"Through his hard work and dedication, Mr. Allen makes a difference. He makes science come alive for his students and helps them realize the importance of science in their daily lives," said NSTA President Dr. David Crowther.
Allen's dedication to aviation safety is further evidenced by his Master Pilot designation awarded by the FAA Safety Team WINGS program, attesting to a superior commitment to aviation safety and supporting the highest principles of the FAA Safety Team.
Allen also earned a master of science in aeronautics and space -- with distinction -- from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the world's largest accredited university specializing in aviation and aerospace.
When not flying his classroom in the sky, George can be found playing chess with opponents across the globe, keeping up his skill as a classical pianist, reading voraciously, or seeking nautical adventures along the rocky coasts of New England.

A revised Imperial House Law took effect on Saturday to address Japan’s shrinking imperial family while retaining the traditional male-only succession system despite public support for female emperors. The legislation, enacted in July in the first major revision of the 1947 law, allows the imperial family to adopt males aged 15 or older from 11 former imperial branch families who are descended from emperors through the male line. The revised law also allows female members to retain their...
Fiercely proud of its culinary traditions, India is increasingly open to foreign influences, with French cooking schools attracting students eager to make their mark on the country’s growing fine-dining sector. “Ten or 15 years ago, there were far fewer young people dreaming of becoming chefs,” said Aabhas Jain, director of bakery and pastry training at Ecole Ducasse, a French culinary school also operating in India. “But with the rise of social media … today’s students have greater ambitions in...
Japan’s centuries-old festivals are facing renewed scrutiny after a series of fatal accidents in recent weeks, raising questions over how communities can preserve their cultural traditions without putting lives at risk. Three people have been killed and more than a dozen injured in accidents at autumn festivals across the country in recent weeks. Meanwhile, organisers of another major festival, where two men died in February, have cancelled next year’s event, citing public safety concerns. The...
China’s access to artificial intelligence computing power will double next year, but US-designed chips will account for about 65 per cent of that capacity, an indication of its continued reliance on foreign hardware, according to new research. Total compute available to Chinese entities was expected to expand in 2027 from about 4.6 million to 8.8 million “H100-equivalents” – a metric benchmarked against Nvidia’s data-centre graphics processing units, according to a report by the Washington-based...
When 35-year-old Bekasi resident Ika Kartika voted for Prabowo Subianto in Indonesia’s 2024 presidential election, she hoped the former general would restore a “Suharto-like” era of stability, when everyday essentials were affordable and life felt more predictable. Growing up, she had often heard her parents reminisce about the “good old days” under the late strongman, whose rule had brought a sense of order to their lives. Two years into his presidency, however, rising food prices have left Ika...
In late September, Singapore’s Reddit community erupted over the government’s new dating platform, FirstDate. Curious to get an insider’s perspective, I visited the site, connected to my Singpass account and watched as my name, age and marital status auto-populated the fields on the page. I entered my Gmail address and hit submit. The email field turned red: “Please sign up with your official work email. Personal email addresses will not be accepted.” I resubmitted the form with my work email,...
The storm has caused at least one death and dozens of injuries, officials said. Schools have closed on the island and hundreds of flights have been canceled.
Its in-house gaffes and disputes are largely to blame for the DP's plummeting approval ratings.
A formal trilateral could raise strategic questions that are awkward for the EU, Ukraine – and China itself.
Taiwan’s formal relationships in Africa and Latin America point to the real factors driving recognition decisions – and it’s not “dollar diplomacy.”
Smoke from the blazes, blamed on destructive agricultural practices, has sickened hundreds of thousands and blanketed neighboring countries.
The storm reached sustained winds of nearly 185 miles per hour on Wednesday. It is expected to weaken later, and its path remains uncertain.
