Beyond complex endoscopy, he focuses on treating patients for gastroesophageal reflux disease, colorectal cancer screening (colonoscopy), inflammatory bowel disease, and gut health (nutrition and placement of feeding tubes).
With a solid educational background, Dr. Murad attended medical school at Trinity College Dublin. He then went on to perform his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Minnesota. Upon completion, he was accepted to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for his advanced therapeutic endoscopy fellowship, working with some of the premier interventional endoscopists in the country.
Committed to excellence, Dr. Murad is board-certified in both gastroenterology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Throughout his extensive career, Dr. Murad served as Chief of Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at NorthShore University Health System where he performed hundreds of complex cases. Prior to his time at NorthShore, he was an Associate Professor of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, and served as Director of the EUS Program within the Section of Interventional Endoscopy. During his time there, Dr. Murad co-founded the Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) Program and performed the first POEM for achalasia in Missouri.
