ARI - Industry's First Predictive Analytics Engine for Preventing First-Party Misuse Chargebacks

DALLAS - December 1, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Chargeback Gurus, a global leader in chargeback risk mitigation services for e-commerce and retail businesses, today announced the launch of ARI, a cutting-edge chargeback prevention solution that provides predictive insights for first-party misuse and sends alerts for transactions that have a higher chance of being disputed.

First Party Misuse chargebacks have been a major challenge for both e-commerce and retail merchants. According to Fraud.net, merchants lost $4.8 billion to first-party misuse in 2020, the most recent year for which data is available. Chargeback Gurus estimates that upwards of 70% of chargebacks are caused by first-party misuse. Merchants who don't take steps to mitigate this risk can lose up to 10% of their total revenue.

Currently, merchants have no way to reliably determine which transactions are likely to be disputed due to first-party misuse. Identifying this gap in merchants' fraud and chargeback protection, Chargeback Gurus has once again pioneered a visionary new technology to help merchants more effectively mitigate risk. ARI is an AI-driven predictive analytics engine that uses data gathered from millions of chargebacks to identify transactions that have a higher chance of being disputed. This information allows merchants to prevent revenue loss by blocking these transactions or requiring additional authentication.

"Chargeback Gurus has consistently led tech-based innovation, with a keen focus on enhancing business value to our customers," said Damodharan Sampathkumar, Chief Product Officer for Chargeback Gurus. "We believe that ARI will create a ground-breaking shift in the payments industry. ARI not only detects high-risk transactions but also recommends a course of action based on its analysis. By customizing our algorithms to account for industry-specific challenges rather than having a generic model, we've achieved phenomenal results so far in effectively identifying transactions that are prone to first-party misuse."

"Our subject-matter expertise, our decades of experience across various industries and our drive to find solutions for our merchants' pain points have led us to develop this industry-first technology," said Suresh Dakshina, President & Co-Founder of Chargeback Gurus. "Existing chargeback prevention alerts are only triggered after the buyer has disputed the charge. In addition, these alerts can only prevent a chargeback if a refund is issued immediately. ARI provides a more effective solution for merchants to minimize first-party misuse without losing revenue to constant refunds. In order to better serve merchants' needs, we also built ARI with low-code/no-code integration in mind to minimize the resources needed for implementation."

India needs more fighter jets. It cannot build them fast enough

India has a soaring ambition to modernise its air force, built around a fleet of domestically developed fighter jets. Yet production of these aircraft has been hampered by engine delays and other bottlenecks that defence analysts say could limit its ability to fight future air wars. On October 11 at an airbase in Jodhpur, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh strapped into a Tejas jet for the last time. It was his final fighter sortie before retiring later this month and he flew it in an Indian-built jet...

Chinese memory chip giant ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) forecast a net income of up to US$19.8 billion for the first nine months of 2026, marking a dramatic swing from a loss a year ago, as the domestic champion cashed in on artificial intelligence-driven demand while aggressively challenging global rivals including Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. Meanwhile, Zhu Yiming, chairman of the Hefei-based memory giant, proposed to buy back 1 billion (US$149.56 million) to 2 billion yuan of...

The AI promise was automation. The reality? Managing digital workers

When artificial intelligence agents first arrived, they came with a tantalising promise: autonomous “digital workers” that would finally free humans from corporate drudgery. As businesses across Asia are discovering, however, the reality is quite the opposite – more work, new friction and a whole new layer of management. When Xiao Mengjie, an AI product marketing manager at a Big Tech firm in Shanghai, recently assigned two AI agents what she described as a simple task, she expected efficiency....

Japan readies Martian moon mission to uncover origins of life

Japanese scientists are readying a mission to Mars’s moons to retrieve samples that could help unlock the origins of the Solar System and life on Earth, in what aims to be the first round trip to the Martian region. The uncrewed Martian Moons eXploration (MMX) probe, a collaboration with US and European space agencies as well as numerous universities and tech companies, could also help lay the groundwork for eventual human exploration. The flagship H3 rocket carrying the MMX is set to blast-off...

Rokid launches ‘no man’s land’ retail experience with Hong Kong flagship store opening

When shoppers step into Rokid’s brand new flagship store in Hong Kong, they are greeted not by eager sales associates, but by glowing monitor screens and a robotic system waiting at the exit. In what the Chinese augmented reality (AR) gadget pioneer called an experiment in “no man’s land” retail, customers navigate the entire journey independently: testing artificial intelligence smart glasses, making payments on a screen and receiving their new devices directly from an automated system on their...

Pakistan risks deeper instability as political feud threatens counterterrorism efforts

Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign against Taliban insurgents risks being undermined by public resentment, following the dismissal of the opposition-led administration of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province. According to a statement issued by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s office after an emergency cabinet meeting last Sunday, the decision to impose temporary federal rule was necessitated by the “provincial government’s deliberate disengagement from the fight against terrorism”. The KP...

Mad rush for oxygen tanks, air purifiers in haze-choked Southeast Asia

Toxic haze from wildfires burning in Indonesia has spiked a demand for oxygen tanks and air purifiers across the region, manufacturers say, as they work the clock on equipment providing life-saving clean air. The months-long haze has blanketed parts of Southeast Asia, forcing school closures and fuelling a rise in respiratory complaints. Families are now rushing to buy devices to keep indoor air clean. At AA Alive, a medical equipment company based just outside Kuala Lumpur, employees were...

Southeast Asia’s ethnic Chinese traders feel the China squeeze

Almost every year, Kevin Stewart flies to China to find stock for his Indonesian businesses. But increasingly, the factories he visits are selling to his customers too, sometimes for less than they charge him. A data science manager in the tech sector by day, the Chinese-Indonesian entrepreneur also helps run home-living and pet-supply companies that sell to other businesses and direct to consumers, including through e-commerce platforms. Yet Chinese companies listing directly on Indonesian...

The jagged edges of its frill and horns are largely intact, and according to its owner, Chaw Wei Yang, 26, it is one of the most complete triceratops skull fossils ever found. Chaw, who runs Fine Art Storage Services (FASS) located inside Le Freeport, formerly known as Singapore Freeport, along with his...

The Philippines confirmed on Wednesday that Trump would fly in for the summit from November 16 to 18, before attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit in Shenzhen that same week.
