Oct 20, 2026

Sidow Sobrino has derailed the conventional celebrity hierarchy, challenging an industry that measures superstardom through charts, box-office returns, streaming figures, and social media popularity.

LOS ANGELES & LONDON & TOKYO, Japan & NEW YORK - Oct. 20, 2026 - PRLog -- With The World's No.1 Superstar® as his signature identity and international entertainment brand, Sidow Sobrino has carved out his own place alongside major names in entertainment.

"Under Your Spell" won Best Pop Music Video at the October 2026 Los Angeles Short Film Awards. Written, directed and performed by Sobrino, the supernatural dance-pop production adds to his international festival honors.

"I don't create with validation from third parties in mind, but recognition from the industry certainly feels good," Sobrino said. "What makes it even more rewarding is seeing the fans who support my work share in these achievements. Every new milestone takes that support to greater heights, and there is always another mountain to climb."

Presented under Best Film Awards, the competition features judges including Netflix series producer Kotaro Sakai; BAFTA-accredited director Ornella Hawthorn Gardez; Paolo Di Maio, associated with the Oscar-nominated City of God; and Maxine De Vere, associated with Sexy Beast and formerly of the BBC.

Other October winners included Quinn Wolverton, Best Feature Film for James; Mary Apick, Best Feature Documentary for Jewel of the Desert; Mitsuo Kurihara, Best Indie Feature Film for Shimo-Mizuno Meeting Hall; and Finise Avery, Best Short Film for Desperately Seeking Commitment. Edward B. Kessel won Best Music Video for Not Today Billy, a separate category.

In "Under Your Spell," Sobrino portrays The Supreme Sorcerer, summoning ancient forces to select an heir to his empire. His husband and creative collaborator, Richard Sidow-Sobrino, portrays Balthazar, the Royal Butler.

"All I know is that when we kiss and hug each other, we look at internationally recognized, award-winning individuals and remind each other there's more where these came from," Richard Sidow-Sobrino said.

Set in Miami Beach and filmed in Laguna Beach, California, the video expands the cinematic world of Sobrino's album Seminal. The 145 BPM dance-pop single is distributed worldwide through S & S Digital Records and The Orchard (Sony Music).

His previous festival recognition includes Dangerous Joy, Rome-Antics, Bad Boy's Wild Ride and Number One.

The entertainment industry may continue counting numbers. Sidow Sobrino has already cemented his place in its history.

Malaysia’s opposition bloc declared invalid, but limited gains for Anwar

Malaysia’s main opposition coalition lost its registration on Tuesday, just 11 days before nominations for a state election, drawing accusations that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s government is using state powers to cripple its rivals. The decision leaves Perikatan Nasional (PN) – already fractured by a bitter dispute between its Islamist anchor, the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), and estranged partner Bersatu – fighting to preserve its electoral identity ahead of Melaka’s November 14...

Energy shock could spark Asia’s next debt crisis

A country need not run out of money to find itself in a debt crisis. It only has to run short of US dollars to pay for its energy. At the recent International Monetary Fund-World Bank annual meetings in Bangkok, the IMF, which expects global economic growth of 3.1 per cent this year and 3.4 per cent the next, cautioned that energy-importing and lower-income economies face a harder road, even as those riding the artificial intelligence boom fare relatively well. According to the World Bank’s...
