Kansas City, United States - March 29, 2023 /PressCable/ —
Senior Care Authority®, an eldercare consulting and assisted living residential placement service, locally operated by Patrick & Tina Kershaw, announced the launch of Beyond Driving with Dignity in Kansas City, Mo. Beyond Driving with Dignity is a nationally recognized program that provides practical, real-life solutions to older drivers and their concerned families. The “Beyond Driving with Dignity” program is designed to save lives while simultaneously helping to ease the burden of the family as they find themselves faced with this very challenging issue.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 20 older adults (65+) are killed and almost 700 are injured in traffic crashes every day. The Beyond Driving with Dignity training and certification program was designed to help senior drivers and their families work through the complicated issue of age-related diminishing driving skills.
Beyond Driving with Dignity helps an older driver make a smooth transition from the driver's seat to the passenger seat. The program also ensures that the individual can maintain as much independence as possible. Senior Care Authority’s Patrick and Tina Kershaw want to ensure that their clients and families receive guidance through the difficult decision of when a senior should cease driving. “It isn’t easy telling someone you love that it’s no longer safe for them to drive. The Beyond Driving with Dignity program gives them the information they need, and every opportunity to hang up the keys on their own terms. If they decide they should keep driving, your family will get an objective third-party opinion in agreement or disagreement, which they can use to justify the right decision,” Patrick Kershaw explained.
The founder of Beyond Driving with Dignity, Matt Gurwell, saw firsthand the need for a program of this kind while serving as an Ohio state trooper. He created the program to help families navigate what can be a difficult and emotional conversation, and ultimately to reduce the number of unnecessary and avoidable death notices state troopers have to deliver.
“Not all seniors need to stop driving, but many families aren’t sure when or how to make that decision for their loved ones,” said Gurwell, “Our program allows families to remove the emotional aspect from the conversation and make a decision together, based on the facts. We want a mutually-made decision with the senior.”

Property agent Raymond Heng had suspected True Fitness was struggling, but he did not expect the gym he had visited for more than a decade to disappear overnight. The closure was not entirely surprising given the region’s fiercely competitive fitness industry, but its abruptness left Heng, 47, in disbelief after paying S$8,800 (US$6,900) for a lifetime membership in 2013. “I guessed that they might not have been doing that well since branches have been closing over the years, but I did not...
As Rodrigo Duterte’s crimes-against-humanity trial looms, an international tribunal faces the challenge of managing a sprawling prosecution case around the health of an 81-year-old former president of the Philippines, on top of shielding the proceedings from a highly charged media environment. Those pressures came into focus at an International Criminal Court (ICC) status conference on Wednesday, when Presiding Judge Joanna Korner urged prosecutors to trim their witness list and evidence ahead...
Chinese artificial intelligence models from seven major developers combined generate only about 10 per cent of the revenue reported for OpenAI and Anthropic, even as investor enthusiasm remains intense, according to US-based research firm Rhodium Group. South Korean President Lee Jae Myung has drawn a clear line against any US request for Seoul to join the war against Iran, explicitly ruling out the dispatch of troops or military assets that could involve his country in the conflict. The stance comes amid mounting public opposition to any military deployment and growing pressure from Washington for Seoul to contribute to efforts to secure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Lee’s government faces the difficult task of balancing...
Indonesia welcomed its first aircraft carrier on Friday, a former Italian warship that the government says will strengthen the archipelago nation’s maritime security and disaster response capabilities.
