Three Brazilians Make Dual Venom Final Tables at Americas Cardroom

Oct 26, 2026

45 Day 2 qualifications span two $2,650 online poker tournaments.

San Jose, Costa Rica, October 26, 2026 -- Brazilian poker players reached the final tables of Americas Cardroom's October Dual Venom PKOs three times, following 45 Day 2 qualifications across No-Limit Hold'em (NLH) and Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO).

The $5 million guaranteed NLH event drew 2,143 entries and a $5,357,500 prize pool. PLO attracted 602 entries and a $1,505,000 prize pool against its $1.5 million guarantee. Both $2,650 buy-in tournaments finished October 21.

The Progressive Knockout format awarded bounties from Day 1. "PushLightYear" won the NLH title, while "tigerseyes" took PLO. The prize pools exceeded their combined guarantees by $362,500. Each tournament offered five Day 1 flights before Day 2 on October 19.

Victor Pedote ("meteli goli") placed seventh in NLH for about $104,088 including bounties. José Orlando ("Blessed33") finished fourth in PLO for about $82,743, with Yuri Martins Dzivielevski ("vousconfus") fifth for about $72,633. Of Brazil's 45 Day 2 qualifications, 39 came in NLH and six in PLO; Martins advanced in both formats.

Brazilian streamer Marcelo Cartana ("CartanaPoker") started his qualification route with an $0.80 Survivor Flip and went on to finish 158th in NLH for approximately $8,367, including bounties.

The finishes build on a Brazilian Venom history that includes 2019 champions Rafael Moraes and João Simão, 2021 winner Ramon Kropmanns, and Gabriel Tavares' $1,505,240 victory in April 2025. Orlando and Martins also shared the April 2026 PLO Mystery Bounty Venom final table. In April, Orlando placed third and Martins sixth.

Saviour or stopgap? Malaysia’s South Korean jets arrive to relieve ageing fighters

Malaysia received its first South Korean-made light combat jet on Friday under a nearly 4 billion ringgit (US$990 million) procurement, in what analysts describe as welcome relief for an ageing air force still years away from replacing its frontline fighters. The FA-50M Block 20 jet arrived at the air force base in Labuan, off Borneo, with a second expected in Kuantan on the peninsula’s east coast next Monday. They are the first of 18 aircraft ordered from Korea Aerospace Industries under a deal...

Indonesia’s wildfire smoke crisis claims over 3,500 lives in September

Pollution from smoke emitted by months of wildfires across Indonesia caused an estimated 3,560 deaths in the vast Southeast Asian archipelago in September, according to a new study. The same month, about 57.8 million people in Indonesia were inhaling unhealthy to hazardous air, said the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA), a Helsinki-based think tank. “Worsening air quality due to forest and land fires in Indonesia pushed the estimated death toll to 3,560 cases in September 2026,...
