New Temporary Insurance Website, Temp Insurance UK, Launches for UK Motorists

Oct 26, 2026

Fleet, United Kingdom, October 26, 2026 /MarketersMEDIA/ -- SimplyQuote founder Chris Richards expands his presence in the UK insurance market with the launch of a specialist website dedicated to temporary motor insurance.

Chris Richards, the entrepreneur behind UK insurance comparison platform SimplyQuote.co.uk, has announced the launch of a new specialist website, Temp Insurance UK, dedicated to helping motorists find temporary and short-term vehicle insurance.

Operating under the TempQuote trading style, the new venture builds on Richards’ experience in the insurance comparison market, offering a dedicated online destination for drivers who need cover for a limited period rather than a traditional annual policy.

The launch follows the establishment of SimplyQuote in 2023 and marks a further expansion of Richards’ activities within the UK insurance market.

From borrowing a family member’s car to collecting a newly purchased vehicle, motorists regularly encounter situations where they need insurance for just a few hours, days or weeks. Temporary cover can provide a practical alternative to arranging an annual policy or modifying existing insurance arrangements.

The new website has been developed with these everyday circumstances in mind, focusing specifically on short-term insurance options for UK motorists.

Building on the Foundations of SimplyQuote

Richards established SimplyQuote in 2023 with the ambition of making insurance comparison simpler and more accessible for UK consumers and businesses.

The platform covers a broad range of personal and commercial insurance products, including car, van, home and business insurance.

While SimplyQuote serves customers across multiple insurance categories, the latest venture takes a more specialised approach, concentrating on the requirements of motorists seeking temporary cover.

The move reflects Richards’ continued focus on developing specialist comparison websites that address specific consumer needs, combining insurance information with straightforward online experiences.

A Dedicated Focus on Short-Term Motor Insurance

Temporary motor insurance serves a different purpose from traditional annual policies, providing cover for eligible drivers who need access to a vehicle for a defined period.

Common scenarios include borrowing a friend or relative’s vehicle, sharing driving responsibilities on a long journey, arranging insurance for a recently purchased car or requiring occasional access to another vehicle.

Unlike broader insurance comparison platforms, the new website focuses specifically on temporary policies and the circumstances in which motorists may require them.

This specialist approach allows the platform to concentrate on the requirements associated with short-term cover, including different policy durations, eligibility considerations and the types of vehicles that may be insured.

By maintaining a dedicated focus on temporary motor insurance, the venture aims to establish a distinct presence within an already competitive UK insurance market.

Expanding into a Specialist Insurance Market

The launch represents another step in Richards’ development of consumer-focused insurance comparison websites.

Having established SimplyQuote as a broader insurance comparison platform, Richards is now applying that experience to a specialist area of motor insurance.

The venture reflects a strategy of building focused online services around distinct customer requirements, recognising that different insurance products often call for different approaches to comparison and customer experience.

With the new website, Richards aims to establish a dedicated presence in the UK temporary insurance market while continuing to develop his portfolio of specialist comparison platforms.

Kim Jong-un urges drone expansion as North Korea showcases new unmanned tech

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un attended an exhibition devoted to drones and called for rapidly expanding the country’s drone technology, state media reported on Friday, as his military escalates threats against South Korea and the United States. Acquiring advanced drones is a top priority for Kim, who now wants to strengthen conventional and nuclear capabilities to counter what he calls US-led security threats. It is unclear how far North Korea’s drone programme has progressed. Experts say...

Dark past of Japan’s Unit 731 buried under airport expansion

A village that sent hundreds of men to one of imperial Japan’s most notorious wartime units is being demolished to make way for a runway at Tokyo’s Narita International Airport. Unit 731 carried out lethal experiments on captives, many of them Chinese, to develop biological weapons during the second world war. Around 300 of its roughly 3,000 personnel came from Kamo, a neighbourhood in Shibayama town, Chiba prefecture, east of the capital. Its founder and commander, Lieutenant General Shiro...

The flaw in Australia’s ‘China threat’ thesis

Australia’s preparations for a possible conflict with China reflect “a relatively superficial understanding”, argues prominent economist John Edwards. Europe, Canada, Indonesia, Malaysia and India, he notes, are not preparing for such a conflict. Why should Australia? Edwards, a former senior economic adviser to former Labor prime minister Paul Keating, makes the observation in a Lowy Institute paper released in October and in a newspaper interview. Instead, he sees US-China rivalry as a...
